HOLY S***, LORD OF THE RINGS AND "SINGLE LADIES" BOTH HAVE THE WORD "RING" IN THEM. HOLY FUCKING S***.
THIS IS ALL I AM GOING TO WRITE ABOUT THIS
-------------
i lied, anon pointed me to this. read it, read the post below it. if you are an xkcd apologist: go! explain how this is not the same!
Mr. Wheeler (if I have permission to call you Carl, please notify me of this. I would like to lose some formality, but I am not looking to offend anyone), I find your language more than inappropriate. The topic at hand is comics, which is a topic that children likely research. As such, it is our responsibility as adults, to give a good example. I have taken the liberty of censoring the offending word in your post, I think the meaning will still be clear to most if not all adults.
As for your post, Mr. Wheeler, I feel that it is lazy and gives a bad example. Your blog™ throws around curse words, is short and lacks any kind of argument. You are dressing up crudely phrased opinions as facts. This is exactly what the nazis did in World War 2™ and as such, offends me deeply, as I am reminded of less fortunate times.
What does Mr. Munroes (Mr. Munroe, if I may call you Randall, please notify me) comic teach us? Correlation does not imply causalation. What this means (as far as I understand it) is that just because the two things have the word ring in it does not necessarily imply that this is the joke. I am not familiar with J.R.R Tolkiens novels, but from what I gather after researching a bit, the joke appears to go much deeper than this.
Another thing, your post format is horrible. Why are you typing in all uppercase letters? Is this supposed to symbolize shouting? Why are you shouting? I don't understand.
As for the other comic, it's a pure coincidence and deserves no moment of my time.
That's all for this post, friends.
